We were honored to contribute to the architectural palimpsest of this historic Oak Hills Rummer. Our client’s property is surrounded by active playfields, so we layered the soft vegetative screenings along the perimeter which in turn amplified the experience of moving through a series of outdoor rooms. The ranch style home is oriented around a central atrium and flows from the interior spaces to the surrounding garden fluidly with floor to ceiling sliding doors and windows. This canvas provided the opportunity to frame lush viewing gardens and create a meditative path meandering throughout the property. The planting design echoes the client’s love for Scandinavian/Japanese minimalism emphasizing layered textures, discreet fragrant blooms, natural materials of wood and stone, and soft planes of no-mow lawn and ferns.
