We love a good front yard and this one is top notch, a great example of how terracing can make a small space feel so much larger and more usable.

Our clients wanted a patio amidst a wild, abundant garden with a bit of English formality: a place to watch the neighborhood while nestled in layers of plants. We removed the lawn and aging concrete and replaced them with warm, textured stone terraces and bluestone pavers. We lined the garden perimeters with boxwoods for a clean edge to contain the flowering plants within. Masses of ornamental grasses soften the terraces and add so much movement throughout the seasons. Come next year’s warm months, this front yard will be popping with perennial flowers and bulbs, jasmine will be climbing up the patio arbor and the sweet smell of styrax blossoms will be hanging on the breeze. So much drama!

Completed in September 2025, this landscape is just getting started. Stay tuned for progress!
